As our individual sponsored projects have increased within the Nar Valley, West Norfolk, we have started to develop these into a more inclusive research project. Over the coming months we will be defining the geographical and historical area of our research, together with the establishment of an invited steering group to provide us with advice. We are in the process of compiling a detailed research agenda for the Nar Valley. However, the main focus of this project will be centred upon non-invasive archaeological techniques, with excavation only being considered where further information is required. The Nar Valley is one of the richest archaeological and historical landscapes in Norfolk and probably East Anglia, and it is therefore envisaged that this will be a long term research project. Over the last few years we have built up a group of enthusiastic people, ranging from keen amateurs to professional archaeologists. However, to do this survey the justice it deserves, we are looking to recruit more volunteers to help with this exciting project. You do not need to have any previous experience, just an interest to learn more about archaeology and to be an active member of our team. There is plenty to do, finds processing, fieldwalking, geophysics, excavation, building surveys etc. If you are interested in becoming involved then please contact us for further information. |
