From the moment on the
30 July 1955 when he discovered a third part of a human skull at a
gravel pit at Swanscombe, to the publication of the discoveries at
Pakefield in the December 2005 edition of 'Nature' John Wymer led man
enormously productive archaeological life. a unique practitioner and
scholar he will be missed by many, both within and outside the
archaeological community. As an archaeologist and prehistorian he will
never be forgotton.
